Türkiye Bursları, the government scholarship
Türkiye Bursları is the Turkish government's scholarship for international students. It covers tuition and pays a stipend, and because of that it is competitive: strong grades and a well-prepared application matter. The conditions and timing change from year to year.
Private-university discounts
Most private universities offer their own tuition discounts, usually based on your grade average or an exam score, ranging from about 25% to 100%. Since private tuition outside medicine is usually USD 3,000–9,000 a year, a good discount changes the final figure a lot. With your documents in hand, we can tell you which options are realistic for you.
Paying tuition
Each university sets its own payment terms. Most private universities allow payment per term or in several instalments, and some give a discount for paying the whole year at once. Public universities charge much lower tuition, usually paid per term.
The cheapest combination
Even without a scholarship, the least expensive option is usually a public university, a Turkish-taught programme and a city other than Istanbul: tuition of a few hundred dollars a year and lower living costs. English-taught programmes or Istanbul cost more.
